“Oh, of course not. He was a Hufflepuff and I was a Slytherin and a Black. If mother had heard about this, she would’ve showed up there in a matter of days.”
She sighed briefly, shaking her head about her own self all those years ago. If she had known that she’d end up marrying that annoying boy, it would have saved both of them a lot of trouble and time. But how was she supposed to know? Back then, to her, Muggles and Muggle-borns were just as horrible as for most other Slytherins. It was the very reason Andromeda did her best to raise Nymphadora as open minded as possible, to not poison her mind with talk about things that aren’t true, in the first place. Getting such things out of one’s mind again is a hard task, and it took her almost a year not to scrunch up her nose whenever she saw a Muggle-born at Hogwarts.
“This was not a romantic story like the ones in novels. I put your dad through hell before I finally started to see reason. I suppose the fact that he put up with it and still wanted to go out with me made him a keeper.”
Tonks most definitely understands the emnity between Hufflepuffs and Slytherins ( and Griffindors and Slytherins, as well as Ravenclaws and Slytherins… alright, no one is too fond of Slytherins ). She can’t quite understand, however, why her father was so set on impressing her mother way back then. Since her mother was a Slytherin, shouldn’t that mean that her father would have wanted nothing to do with her? Of course, seeing them together now, the fact that they are married just makes s e n s e. But how could they have known when they were so young? Once again, she’s stumped by the wiles of love.
❝ He must have really liked you.
If he just kept trying to talk to you, I mean… ❞

There is a boy in her class who keeps trying to talk to her, as well, but she can’t quite make herself return the attention. He smells like a rotting patch of puffapods… Plus one of his eyes doesn’t look straight ahead all the time. And Tonks knows that it's horrid of her to notice such things, but she just can't help it.
❝ So, if flying over to your window didn’t catch your attention, what did? ❞
